WordPress.org has got to be the shining star for what a decentralized organization looks like. Think about it – WordPress is 22 years old. It is, with no close second, the largest platform for websites to be built on Earth.

> 40%-50% of the world's websites are estimated to run on WordPress (563,000,000 according to GPT). That is insane.

WordPress has a system of governance that helps guide the project, and it isn't owned by anyone in any traditional sense. Hundreds of thousands of developers make a living building websites, tools, and plugins on a platform that at its core is:

  • Open source
  • Extremely well supported
  • Secure
  • Well thought out
  • Well executed

Also, PHP is awesome.

Why is PHP awesome? I'm so glad you asked.

PHP is awesome because PHP and Cardano get along pretty well! That is how this whole website – UMBRELLA.LOL – works. I was able to derive wallets and sign transactions on utilities I built (with AI support) entirely in PHP. PHP is the native language of WordPress.

Usually to transact on a blockchain like Cardano you need somewhat resource-intensive tools to derive wallets and sign transactions. That is because the process takes a lot of exact math and utilizes several different forms of encryption.

All of those forms of encryption, and the math, can all be worked out on native WordPress servers. No extra dependencies, no libraries – literally out of the box lowest level WordPress server.

Here's the kicker:

My .exe signer I was using was about 90MB.

My entire PHP wallet generator and signer is 60KB.

That's a 1,500x difference.

You can check out some of the work here. Someone should review it, I am not a dev, but I put my proofs on the GitHub.

What Does This Mean?

That means that a free, open source platform that powers 500,000,000+ websites natively supports Cardano.

Think about that for a second.

  • Mint an umbrella? ✅
  • Generate a wallet? ✅
  • Find your Cardano.Place? ✅

All of these experiences are native to WordPress. The Anvil API handled my txBuild and txSubmit, PHP running on the server serving this site generates wallets, and does the signing for mints.

Insane.

The Future is Built on Open Tools

WordPress + PHP + Cardano = A genuinely accessible blockchain experience for half the internet.

No 90MB executables. No complex dependencies. Just clean, efficient code running on infrastructure that already exists.

This is what adoption looks like.
